Will and Mary Linville are long time friends of Gerard and Maureen and co-founders of
LOLA. From the beginning they have assisted in every possible way—by fostering and
fundraising, and even adopting kitties. Will and Mary contributed funds to help buy the
land for the sanctuary. On several occasions they have donated the money to keep
LOLA going, and they are still the largest contributors to the organization. Will holds a
raffle each month with all proceeds going to LOLA.
We can’t say enough wonderful things about Dr. David Henderson of the Sunrise
Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Henderson is known throughout the Las Vegas area as one of the
few vets who actively assists animal rescuers. He truly has animal welfare at the heart
of his practice, and he has been a real angel for LOLA. Dr. Henderson and his staff
provide us with compassionate care, giving us discounted veterinary services and
medicines that help keep everyone at the sanctuary healthy.
For years Ann Melly has assisted Maureen with weekly adoptions. Ann is currently
LOLA’s one and only foster person, but whenever possible, she gets her family involved
with fostering, too. She is a financial contributor, helps with fundraising, and is an allaround
supporter of our organization.
Jen Meyer of KoolKat Web Designs, is the web developer who designed and programmed LOLA’s current
website. She is a fundraiser and financial supporter. Jen also volunteers at PetSmart
each week.
Deb Bohn provided web content for the new website. She runs the LOLA raffle and is
involved in fundraising. Deb also volunteers at PetSmart.
Bruce and Becci Christiansen were original LOLA board members. Becci designed he
original website and and maintained it for over a year. Together they helped physically
build the sanctuary, while contributing to the costs of construction materials. Bruce and
Becci made a large financial contribution that allowed Maureen and Gerard to complete
the exterior stucco on the sanctuary.
Bud and Ursula were hired in January 2011. They hail most recently from Reno, NV. Bud
and Ursula are responsible for a variety of cleaning and care taking duties at the
sanctuary. They are also in charge of various office duties and computer tasks.
Maria has been a wonderful presence at the sanctuary for several years. She cleans,
performs care taking duties and fosters animals.
Cindy Anthony is the Chloride connection for assisting with spay and neuters (an
informal Trap/Neuter/Return program in our town and surrounding areas). Cindy is a
great cheerleader for LOLA: She is grateful for the sanctuary and what it brings to the
area, and isn’t shy about telling people.
Jack Frost was the original land developer and all-around go-to guy in Chloride. He
excavated the sanctuary property, graded land, built the road, and provided all kinds of
expertise during construction.
Roberta makes most of the crazy, wonderful cat furniture that we have around the
sanctuary. Ron provides quality control.
Bobbi Klocker is well-known in Vegas. She has been involved in animal rescue for over
30 years. Bobbi is a wonderful liason for us, putting LOLA in touch with other
organizations, helping us with fundraising and events.
Rich Flakus has been doing LOLA’s taxes since 2008. (Thank you, Rich!) With Rich’s help
we were able to get our 501(c)3 status.
Dwayne Tucker was hired in November 2010. He performed various jobs at the
sanctuary including cleaning and care taking. Dwayne also made the very important
contribution of setting LOLA up on social networking sites and on Guidestar, a website
that helps verify not-for-profit credentials.
We would also like to thank the Southern Nevada Spay and Neuter Center. The
compassionate and helpful staff provides discounted veterinary spay and neuter
services to LOLA.
Nora Stuart has provided us with beautiful quilts for auction at our fundraisers.
Janet Differ crochets “kitty afghans”—little blankets for our PetSmart kitties.
Jennifer and Jayson Barangan were on LOLA’s original board. They helped LOLA with
several different fundraising activities.
Mike and Jennifer Connell have helped with LOLA’s fundraising activities. And Mike
sends out monthly reminders and announcements for Will Linville’s LOLA raffle.
Members of the Dondero Elementary staff have come to fundraisers, donated their time
and money to help keep LOLA going.
